Service Parts Runner

Job Summary

Provide assistance to the Service Technicians by picking up and delivering parts to their jobs sites, loading and unloading equipment and shop tools, and performing other services as requested.  This person is also responsible for service warehouse maintenance and specific warehouse tasks. Additional office tasks, duties and responsibilities are assigned on a recurring and as needed basis.

Reports to Service Operations Manager

Essential Functions and Duties (including but not limited to)

  • Responsible for picking up and delivering tools, parts, and equipment to job sites as dispatched
  • Responsible for maintaining recovery and recycling equipment
  • Process refrigerants using recovery and recycling equipment
  • Responsible for maintenance and inventory of shop tools, assist with the check in and check out. Ensure that shop tools are in good repair
  • Assist with waste oil storage and disposal, order drums as needed and ensure the waste oil log is properly completed weekly
  • Responsible for performing and documenting ladder, chain hoist, shop equipment safety inspections
  • Keep shop area and warehouse office neat
  • Help fill in for sick or vacation as needed
  • Assist in set up and preparation for in-house training and seminars
  • Operate forklift
  • Order rags and other shop supplies as needed
  • Deliver paperwork as need from office
  • Raise flag every morning and take down every night
  • Pick up the mail every morning and take mail every afternoon
  • Facility and parking lot trash detail
  • Recurring office supply, maintenance and cleaning duties
  • Training room and facility set up for meetings and events
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • High School Diploma or Graduation Equivalency Diploma
  • Preferably enrolled in an HVAC certification program

Skills and Experience

  • Basic mechanical ability
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in an environment of changing time constraints and deadlines

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk, use hands to finger, reach, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and ability to adjust focus.

This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and possible extreme weather conditions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions/ high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather condition; risk of electrical shock (high voltage); and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
