About Project

Problem: Storer Services was contacted by UT Health Science Center when a 16-foot, large sump condenser water pump failed. This water pump supplied condenser water to the main 900-ton York chiller of the facility. Because it supplied to the main chiller, the job needed to be started as soon as possible and completed as quickly as possible to reduce the effect on the facility.

Solution: Storer was able to quickly and efficiently remove the condenser water pump using a crane and taking it out through UT Health Science Center’s roof. Our technicians were then able to load the pump onto a trailer, rebuild the pump, and reinstall the rebuilt pump to have the chiller back up and running in less than a week, significantly reducing the downtown of the York chiller.

Legacy: Storer Services was able to minimize the effect of the failed condenser water pump to the UT Health Science Center by swiftly troubleshooting the problem, gathering the necessary tools to solve the problem, and completing the task in five days. This significantly reduced any issues the health center could have encountered by having a chiller out of order for weeks at a time. Storer was able to problem-solve and complete the task very timely to ensure the health center staff, patients, and the community they serve were minimally affected by the problem
